A standalone film, it is not part of the same continuity as the previous films and is set in the real world. It is the fourth installment in the Arthur film series, which is based on the children's fantasy novel series of the same name by Luc Besson, and a spin-off to the trilogy. Arthur, curse) is a 2022 French meta psychological horror film directed by Barthélemy Grossmann. And that got me thinking.what would happen in real life? What would happen if real life people discovered the Minimoys? The answer was simple, the same thing that happens when people discover something new: they try to exploit it.Arthur, malédiction ( transl. I wanted a villain that could affect Arthur in a way Maltazard never could. It was time for a new villain to take the spotlight.Īnd that's when Yancy Davis, or Robert Serven, or 'The Professor', or 'The Demon' (whichever you want to call him), was born. In my eyes, Maltazard had had his chance. Yes, he's an awesome villain, voiced in the first Arthur by an even greater man (R.I.P David Bowie), but he's had three movies where he was the main villain, and I've seen so many fanfictions where M was still the villain, and somehow managed to escape the glass cup we saw him in at the end of Arthur 3. And that meant, in my eyes, that Maltazard couldn't be the main villain anymore. The first thing I wanted to make sure of was that it had a believable plotline, and it wasn't just a poor attempt at continuing the Arthur storyline. But back on point, with exams and school over, I could finally get to work. I started writing immediately, but I was unable to work on Arthur 4 for a period of about a month or two, as my inspiration was slowly draining away.īut eventually, I finished my exams, and you'll be happy to know that I got everything I needed to get into college. I discovered Arthur 2 and 3 in the last few months of my final year at high school, which means one thing. The only problem was.this burst of inspiration came at the worst possible time. Don't ask.Īnd so, the idea of 'Arthur 4: Defender of the Seven Kingdoms' was born. I searched the internet for already existing fanfictions, but most of them were unfinished, had awful grammar, or were.eroticas. The burst of unexplored content from one of my favourite childhood franchises had reminded me of a thought I had when I first saw 'Arthur and the Great Adventure' in Cinemas, back in 2010: I believed that the story of Arthur and the Invisibles came to too much of an abrupt close, and remained unfinished.Īnd as I searched the somewhat scarce fanbase of the franchise, I quickly found that I was not alone. This sent me into a strange sense of obsessive inspiration. I also discovered the abundance of deleted scenes for the first movie. I managed to find a zoomed out, slowed down version of both movies on youtube, and finally caught up with everything I'd missed, including the 'Vines' scene, the extended scene with Max and Snow, and all the Arthur and Selenia romance scenes I'd never seen. For those of you who are unaware, Arthur 2 and 3 only exist in other countries, and 'Arthur and the Great Adventure' is what we here in the UK get: a mashed together version of the two movies, with tons of awesome scenes cut out. It was on that day that I was introduced to 'Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard' and 'Arthur and the War of Two Worlds'. However, living in the UK, I had always lived under the idea that 'Arthur and the Great Adventure' was the only sequel that existed.īut of course, I was wrong. Of course, what came up was 'Arthur 3: The War of Two Worlds'. Great story, great characters.Īfter I'd finished watching them, I just happened to type up on my phone 'Arthur and the Invisibles 3', as you do sometimes when you've just watched a movie you know there isn't a sequel for, but you search it anyway to see what comes up. It's a franchise I grew up with, and I've always thought it was a great one. As you've probably already figured out, I'm a big fan of the series. This all started about five months ago, when I just happened to watch 'Arthur and the Invisibles', and 'Arthur and the Great Adventure' one night. But before I go off on a tangent, let me start from the beginning. But I'm spelling everything wrong because my hands are shaking so much. Is this actually happening? Well, words are appearing on the screen as I type, so I'm going to take that as a yes.
